The University of Rochester seeks a collaborative, proven leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Chief Safety Officer. The AVP directs a comprehensive University-wide environmental, health and safety program, including but not limited to Chemical/Radiation/Biological Safety, Fire Safety and Prevention, Food Safety, Hazard Communication, Industrial Hygiene, Laboratory Safety, Occupational Safety, Pest Control, Emergency Preparedness, and Business Continuity Management (BCM) to achieve a safe and healthy environment for staff, students, patients and visitors. The AVP also works to ensure compliance with all safety related governmental regulations, and proposes and organizes activities to enhance programs and comply with new regulations. As Chief Safety Officer, the AVP is authorized to suspend any or all institutional operations in the event of imminent hazard, and oversees all things safety related, including acting as a liaison with outside agencies as needed.
