Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Interim Assistant Director Carolyn Place has been named EH&S director, effective December 1, 2023.
Place, who joined the University in 2013 as a clinical and research laboratory safety specialist, has served as a laboratory safety manager and, most recently, as the interim EH&S assistant director.
Reporting to Associate Vice President Michael Liberty, Place will oversee a number of EH&S units including Laboratory Safety, Environmental Compliance, Asbestos Control, Pest Control and Sanitation.
Place received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Buffalo, and holds professional certifications in both industrial hygiene and safety.
