Caroline Burnicki named the University’s controller

Caroline Burnicki, who has been serving as interim controller since July 2021, has been named the University’s controller. The appointment is effective immediately. Reporting to Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer Elizabeth Milavec, the University controller serves as the corporate chief accounting officer with primary responsibilities for planning, developing, directing, and maintaining the University’s systems of accounting, financial reporting and general accounting operations, and financial controls. She oversees the following University finance offices: Bursar, Payroll & Tax Compliance, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations, Research Accounting and Costing Standards (ORACS), and Financial Systems Administration.

Burnicki joined the University’s Controller’s Office in 2015 as the senior director for Payroll & Tax Compliance. Prior to joining the University, she was a director in the National Tax-Exempt Organizations practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where she provided consulting services to clients in healthcare and higher education for more than 16 years.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University at Buffalo and a J.D. and an LL.M. (master’s of law) in taxation from Villanova University.
