Serving as interim fire marshal since December 2022, Militello has been named the University’s fire marshal effective July 1. Reporting to Mike Liberty, interim associate vice president and chief safety officer, the fire marshal plans and manages the fire safety and prevention program for the entire University, which includes River Campus, Strong Memorial Hospital, the Medical Center and offsite locations such as the Eastman Theatre, the Memorial Art Gallery and the UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center in Henrietta. He will oversee the University’s Fire Safety Unit and ensure that the fire safety program is integrated with other health and safety programs at the University.
He first joined Environmental Health and Safety in August 2008, moving up the ranks of the University’s Fire Safety Unit to become fire safety specialist. He earned an associate degree in fire prevention technologies from Monroe Community College and currently serves as a chief of the Victor Volunteer Fire Department.
