Q: What made your University of Rochester experience special?

A: The lifelong friendships that I was able to build with some of my fellow students and peers at the University is what has made my experience so special. During our time at the University, we were able to help and support each other during the challenging courses that we had selected. I believe that created relationships and fostered bonds that allowed us to do the same when faced with the various challenges in life post-graduation. In some ways, these University of Rochester friends have become extended family members.

Q: How do you approach all the responsibilities of balancing your family (especially as a mom of multiples!) and career while also finding time to support the University?

A: Making lots of lists! It was much easier before becoming a mom to twin boys. As a new mom, I am still trying to figure this part out. I feel like I am always late in doing things and behind schedule. In the last year, since I have become a mom, my boys have become the number one priority. I feel like everything centered around them and everything else in my life became secondary. It was difficult for me to cope and deal with the fact that this new role as a mom trumped all my previous identities. Almost a year in, and I find that I am finally getting a chance to reconnect with some of my old pre-mom identities. Throughout all the challenges, my village of support and just taking it one day at a time is what has helped tremendously. Telling myself that I did my best each day and giving myself some grace to adjust and adapt without expecting perfection like I have in the past.

Q: Why do you give to the University of Rochester?

A: I give because I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to have access to higher education and I can see the positive impact that the University is making. I hope that the money that I give can give someone the experiences and opportunities that have been presented to me at the University of Rochester.

Q: What does doubling your impact through a matching gift mean to you?

A: I am very fortunate to work for a company who also believes in philanthropy and giving back to the communities in which we work. When I give, my employer will match my donations 100%. I am so grateful, because that means the contributions that I have made will be able to help two times as many people than if it was just me alone.

Q: What do you value about being a member of the George Eastman Circle?

A: I value all my connections with other Rochester alumni who have similar values and views on philanthropy and giving back that I have met over the years as a member of the George Eastman Circle. It is nice to know that I am part of a collective group who is making a bigger impact to future generations through everything that the University does.
