A special message from Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement
| |
As everyone attempts to navigate a world of uncertainty, know that the University of Rochester alumni family is here for you. While we are working on ways to provide additional resources, educational experiences, and connections remotely for you, there are already a variety of ways to stay connected to the University. Please consider connecting with fellow alumni and students through our online networking tool, The Meliora Collective, our social media channels and groups, listening to Eastman School of Music alumni on Spotify, enjoying candid conversations with the Greene Center's Careers Unfiltered podcast, filling your home with music and art with #EastmanConnects and #MAGatHome, or even perusing electronic copies of Rochester Review and curling up with a good book by a fellow graduate. We hope that this issue of the Rochester Buzz and the monthly issues that follow can be not only a place to receive updated information, but also to read uplifting stories about the incredible people that make up our community. This new website is a great place to start—we’ll be adding new content every week. Thank you for your continued dedication to the University of Rochester. Stay strong, stay safe, and stay in touch. ––Karen Chance Mercurius, Associate Vice President for Alumni and Constituent Relations

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is participating in a clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational antiviral drug in hospitalized adults diagnosed with COVID-19. We will get through this together.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our alumni and friends who in recent weeks have provided financial support to our students, patients, health care providers, and researchers.
- The University has an emergency fund for students. This fund is actively being used today to help with housing, temporary storage, online learning assistance, and more.
- The University Food Pantry is making food available to all students, and the Meals on Wheels program is providing much-needed meals to hundreds more homebound seniors.
- To help UR Medicine meet the unprecedented challenges facing the Rochester community, the URMC COVID-19 Emergency Fund has been created. This fund supports providers and patients with essential medical supplies and emergency needs.

We’re rescheduling our annual Day of Giving to June 4. Gifts made during this special, 24-hour online fundraising event, will make a significant difference for future endeavors at the University and Medical Center.
