Together for Rochester. It’s about everyone pitching in. It’s about helping our students and graduates find internships and jobs. It’s about promoting equity and access. And it’s about communicating how important our network of alumni, volunteers, and friends is to our future. This University campaign, which runs through June, is supporting scholarships, research, faculty projects, and other critical initiatives.

Bridging the digital divide with a one-of-a-kind experience

As Obed Badillo Moreno ’19 approached his senior year, he was looking for an experience that would combine his professional interest in the aerospace industry with his personal mission to connect people through technology. An international student, he found that opportunity in his internship at OneWeb, a technology company based in London that specializes in Low Earth Orbit satellite constellations.

Testing in Rochester: A new coronavirus vaccine seeks to ‘boost’ immune response

The University of Rochester Medical Center and Rochester Regional Health have begun a new clinical trial that will evaluate the safety and efficacy of a third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. This study represents an important step in the development of long-term vaccination strategies to protect against circulating and emerging variants of the virus.

Ibram X. Kendi: ‘The very heartbeat of racism is denial’

The only way to beat racism is to admit we’ve been racist in the past, Ibram X. Kendi told a virtual audience of nearly 3,000 as part of the University’s 20th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Address. In addition to the address, the activist and author participated in an online Q&A with student leaders and spoke on several current topics.

Over the past year, we’ve saved lives, ensured students had access to emergency funds and a stocked food pantry, promoted equity and access, provided critical funding for our researchers, and connected graduates with mentorship opportunities and career assistance. Messages to the University community

President Sarah Mangelsdorf joined other University leaders in expressing unequivocal support for Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander students, postdocs, faculty, and staff in light of recent violence and acts of hate against these communities. She also announced that the University will conduct hybrid exercises for 2021 Commencement this May.
