Weekend headliners include multifaceted entertainer Leslie Odom, Jr., journalist and CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell, author and Hidden Brain host Shankar Vedantam, and comedian Joel McHale. Registration opens on August 7.

Nicole Sampson has been appointed interim University provost. Sampson, who has served as the Robert L. and Mary L. Sproull Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences since August 2023, will assume her new interim responsibilities on August 1, when Provost David Figlio steps down. Duje Tadin, chair of the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, has been named interim dean of the School of Arts & Sciences.

Eastman Opera Theatre’s 2024–25 season, “The 21st Century,” will feature operas written primarily within the last 25 years. The season launches with Silent Light in Kilbourn Hall, sung in English with supertitles, on October 31.
