Annual funds helped us renovate operating rooms, create private inpatients rooms, and provide the latest technology for our patients. This helped Strong gain national attention from many organizations, including being recognized byU.S. News & World Report as a national leader in patient safety, patient engagement, and clinical connectedness to improve patient care.
Support for our Advanced Heart Failure Program helped us become one of the nation’s leading centers for research on and development of ventricular assist devices (VADs), and one of the world’s leading research centers on implantable defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy. Strong Memorial Hospital is the only comprehensive heart failure and transplant center in upstate New York, allowing patients and families to be closer to home while waiting for heart donations. Since the program’s inception in 2001, we have performed over 200 heart transplants and implanted over 400 VADs.
