Highland Hospital
Funds for our programs helped Highland achieve rankings as one of the top hospitals in New York State and the region. For example, U.S. News & World Report recognized Highland as a “Best Regional Hospital,” a designation earned by less than 10 percent of nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide.
Facilities support helped us begin a $28 million, 30,000 square-foot expansion project. The new space includes a 26-bed observation unit and six new operating rooms. It also puts Highland in a better position to continue offering excellence in patient-centered care for the Rochester community.
Annual funds also benefited new protocols and physical changes in the Wolk Emergency Department to meet the unique needs of the elderly population. Improvements include streamlined care for conditions such as pneumonia and hip fractures, enhanced geriatric-specific training, and six newly designed senior-friendly patient rooms.
