Enhance Students’ Professional and Career Development

ENGAGEMENT WITH PROFESSIONAL, EDI AND SOCIAL CLUBS

Leverage your experience and background to offer guidance for student clubs and organizations, ranging from academic and experiential opportunities to social and sports clubs through:

Engaging in a functional or industry panel
Today’s panels are NOT like the past – questions to the panel are student-led, experiential, cause reflection from panelists and students and play more like case discussions.
Commitment: 30 min meeting prior to panel & 1-2 hours for the panel discussion

Volunteering as a Judge for a Club’s Internal Case Competition
Providing insight to teams competing in a case competition is the essential reflection that need to occur in order to adopt learning for future use. Alums experienced in different functional fields are needed to provide the real-world lens to student presentations and Q & A sessions
Commitment: 3-4 hours on a Friday or Saturday to hear 5-10 student presentations and ask follow-up question

REFER/SPONSOR A CORPORATE OR NON-PROFIT PROJECT

Simon needs real Corporate or Non-Profit projects for Project-Based Courses, Simon Vision Consulting and Summer Projects. We have alums that sponsor projects and those that refer projects to another area within their organization.

Project-Based Coursework
Students will work on your strategic project for 8 weeks as part of a course, with the Professor typically advising the team. Past clients have said that there have been huge benefits to the recommendations provided and students have said it was one of the most relevant experiences at Simon.

Simon Vision Consulting
Students will work on your strategic project for 6-8 weeks, and the focus is typically on helping smaller Companies or Non-Profits to research, analyze and recommend solutions to a strategic initiative.

Summer Projects
Some students will target their summer to work on a project rather than a formal internship and this is a great opportunity for alumni to engage with a student to manage a strategic initiative over the summer (or in select cases during the school year).

EXECUTIVE CHAT

When in the area, we will arrange the opportunity for you to sit with 8-10 students, many times over lunch, to discuss topics from your experiences that you think would be beneficial to the students. The intentionally small size allows for great conversations that can go deeper than discussions in a large classroom, and alumni feedback has been extremely positive as they get charged up by the interaction as well.
Commitment: 1.5 hours of meeting and talking.

INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS WITH STUDENTS

Meet with first and second year MBA students who are interested in your firm, industry, or functional experience to provide guidance in their career search.
