Overview

Students with an entrepreneurial project who have completed an Ain Center training program (view list of qualifying training programs) or ENT course, are eligible to use their grant awards to hire other University of Rochester students to further their project. Select the appropriate tab to review the information, agree to the terms and complete the requirements below.

Email aincfe@rochester.edu the following:
  • The qualifying Ain Center training program or ENT course and the semester and year completed or anticipated completion date (view list of qualifying training programs)
  • Number of UR student employees requested
  • Name(s) of candidate(s)
  • Email address of each candidate
  • Job description for each position
  • Start and end dates for each position in which the work will be completed
  • Estimated number of hours per week for each position
  • Estimated number of weeks in which work will be performed
You are responsible for:
  • Scheduling a consultation with an Ain Center staff member by emailing aincfe@rochester.edu
  • Informing selected candidate(s) that they must review the information, agree to the terms and complete the requirements in the “Student Employee Candidate(s)” section above
  • Ensuring your selected candidate(s) have academic pursuits at the University of Rochester that relate to the job description and nature of the work that you will be assigning
  • Sending an offer letter to your selected candidate(s) (the Ain Center will provide you with an electronic offer letter template)
  • Meeting regularly with the hired student(s)
  • Setting semi-monthly milestones for the hired student(s)
  • Completing monthly progress reports online for each hire using the “Submit Report” button to the right
Position Information and Terms
  • The Ain Center will hire the student(s) through Job Link and they must follow the policies set forth by the Student Employment Office and International Services Office (if the selected candidates are international students).
  • Please allow for up to 10 business days after the completion of all requirements by the Student(s) with an Entrepreneurial Project and the selected candidate(s) for the official start date of the position(s).

Position Information and Terms
  • The Ain Center will reply with the job posting information in Job Link.
  • The pay rate is $12.90/hour.
  • The nature of the work must be related to your academic pursuits at the University of Rochester.
  • Your supervisor is the Student with an Entrepreneurial Project, not the Ain Center staff. The Student with an Entrepreneurial Project will set semi-monthly milestones and assign work to further the project. The Student with an Entrepreneurial Project will submit monthly reports to the Ain Center on your work progress. If milestones are not being met and/or work is not being completed, the Ain Center may terminate your position.
You are responsible for:

  • Applying to the position in Job Link (the nature of the work must be related to your academic pursuits at the University of Rochester)
  • Submitting the other forms and information as required by the Student Employment Office (review requirements to start a new job) and International Services Office (if you are an international student)
  • Answering the two questions below upon accepting the employment offer and submitting other information as required
  • Accurately entering specific dates and times worked via HRMS after your official start date (contact the Ain Center if you need HRMS time entry training)
  • Meeting regularly with the supervising Student(s) with an Entrepreneurial Project and sharing what you have been working on and your progress toward semi-monthly milestones, including any challenges or barriers that you have encountered
  • Completing the work set by the supervising Student(s) with an Entrepreneurial Project
  • Retaining the offer letter from the Student(s) with an Entrepreneurial Project and the memo from the Ain Center in your records as these demonstrate that you are authorized to pursue this work and receive compensation

Information for Students Who Accept Employment Offer

Please answer the two questions below. The toggles contain important information and requests to submit additional required information.

1. Are you already a University of Rochester student employee?

YES

  • Apply to the position on Job Link
    • International students must contact ISO before accepting any new work activities
  • Email aincfe@rochester.edu the following:
    • UR Employee ID Number
    • A list of all other University employment positions (department and title) and total number of hours worked per week for each position
  • IMPORTANT: You must not exceed 20 hours/week total, including all UR employment positions

NO

  • Apply to the position on Job Link and complete all required paperwork (review requirements to start a new job):
    • International students must contact ISO before accepting any new work activities
    • International students: complete the W-8 (list permanent home address matching University records); or
    • Domestic students: complete the W-9 (list permanent home address matching University records)
    • It is highly recommended that all UR student employees set up direct deposit
  • Email aincfe@rochester.edu the following:
    • UR Employee ID Number when received.
    • If needed, request training on how to enter time in HRMS. You must accurately record the time you work in this position.
  • IMPORTANT: If you accept another UR student employment job(s) during this period, you must not exceed 20 hours/week total among all UR positions
2. Do you have direct deposit set up for your UR student employment position(s)?

YES

  • You will be paid via direct deposit.

NO

  • It is strongly encouraged that you set up direct deposit.
  • If this is not possible, the check will be mailed to the permanent home address listed on your W-8 (international students) or W-9 (domestic students).
  • You must make arrangements on your own to receive the check.
