Facebook Info Session

Two UR Alums, both leaders in engineering at Facebook will talk with University of Rochester students in a virtual session at 12 noon Wed. Oct. 20.
T.S. Khurana, Vice President of Global Sourcing and Operations Engineering, manages the company’s complete infrastructure spanning computer, storage, network, data center infrastructure and connectivity. During his 10-year tenure at Facebook, TS led the company’s transition from mainstream data center equipment channels to custom-designed and manufactured infrastructure, saving the company over $2 billion in capital expenditures. At the University of Rochester, TS majored in Electrical Engineering and he worked at Cisco and KLA Tencor before joining Facebook.
Simon Gong, a 2007 Alum, is Manager of the Capacity Planning and Optimization Team at Facebook, which optimizes servers and data center infrastructure across the globe, serving almost 3 billion users. Before joining Facebook, Simon held various roles across engineering, operations and finance at companies including Box and Twitter. He has built and led teams in Capacity and Performance Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Infrastructure Data Science, Supply Chain and Finance.
The Facebook team will discuss their roles in the company, current challenges, as well as open internship positions.
