Why did you choose the University of Rochester?

I chose to attend the University of Rochester because I instantly saw myself here when on my tour. I wanted to have the freedom combine my passions for analytics and economics in a dual-degree while pursuing my extracurricular interests, such as economics research and music--and Rochester allowed me to do just that!

Why did you choose to major in business?

I chose to major in business because I wanted to be equipped with the tools to problem-solve no matter my industry, company, role, or the problem I face. A major in business equips me with the skills I will need for my entire career and keeps me agile. Business analytics excites me as it allows me to answer questions--and think of new ones--from data and communicate my insights to stakeholders.

What has been your favorite undergraduate business course and why?

My favorite undergraduate business course has been STR 203: Economic Theory of Organizations. This course combined my passions for economics and business and taught me to approach concepts from team dynamics to human behavior in firms to organizational structure through a different lens.

What are your activities outside of class?

I am a Research Assistant in Professor Elaine Hill's Health and Environmental Economics Lab, where I conduct economics research at the intersection between health, policy, the environment and human capital formation. I am also a Writing Fellow with the university's Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program, where I tutor fellow students in their writing. I have also played clarinet in the symphony orchestra since freshman year.

Have you completed any internships?

I completed a data analytics internship in the HR department of Textron in Providence, Rhode Island.

What are your career goals?

My goal is to pursue a career in data analytics in a high-impact role. My eventual goal is to become the Director of Analytics at a large firm, where I can direct my company's analytical strategy to help the leadership make data-driven decisions and improve business practices.
