Get involved with orientation! Student leaders and volunteers are an invaluable part of the orientation team. Orientation leaders, Welcome Week volunteers, and international student mentors work alongside the full-time professional staff to develop and execute both online and in-person orientation events and programs that welcome incoming students and their families to the University community.
As an orientation leader, you help to shape the future of a new student's life at the University by serving as a mentor for new entering students, transfer students, and exchange students. Ahead of Fall Welcome Week, you will be assigned to a group of incoming students, providing them with guidance on academics, student life, and campus resources. You will also develop and host virtual and in-person events and programs for incoming students to get to know one another and build relationships.

Welcome Week Volunteers
Welcome Week volunteers welcome students and their families to campus and help run events and programs during Welcome Week. Whether you are a student organization interested in hosting an event or performance, or an individual who wants to assist with move-in, you provide invaluable Meliora spirit as we welcome our incoming students and families to campus.

The application process for individual Welcome Weekend Volunteers has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. Check back here for more information.
Apply as a Student Organization for Welcome Week
The application process for group Welcome Weekend volunteers has been suspended indefinitely for fall 2020. We will reach out if and when opportunities arise for student organizations to participate in orientation and Welcome Week. If you have any questions, please contact Justin Bruce at email@example.com.
International Student Mentors
International student mentors (ISMs) foster meaningful interactions between themselves and incoming international students, as well as help to build relationships between incoming students. As an ISM, you will begin communicating with new international students a few months before their arrival to help them prepare for life at the University of Rochester.
At the start of Welcome Week, you will assist your mentees with moving into their residence halls. Throughout the academic year, you will continue to support students by organizing fun events and serving as a resource for questions about U.S. culture and University academics.
