Black

The word Black should be capitalized when used to describe the racial, ethnic, and cultural identity of people of African origin. In describing the experience of people in the United States, the term African American can be used in some instances, but the personal preferences of individuals should be respected in referring to them and their identity. (Note: only use ethnic or racial distinctions when the references are germane to the purpose of the story.)
