TODAY'S UPDATES

Eight new positive cases of COVID-19

Since Tuesday’s notice in @Rochester, there are eight new cases of COVID-19 to report: seven River Campus students and one employee. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated daily. Whenever a new case is known, the contact-tracing process begins immediately with confirmed exposures being contacted and required to quarantine.

It’s extremely important for the health of the University community that individuals continue to adhere to the face masking and social distancing protocols. Even as some individuals are now receiving their first or second dose of the vaccine, these practices to prevent the transmission of the virus cannot be relaxed.

If you think you’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, it’s important to report them through Dr. Chat Bot immediately. Even if you think your symptoms might be something else—like a cold, seasonal congestion, or allergies—it’s still important to tell University health professionals and contact tracers what you’re experiencing.

New rankings highlight Simon's diversity, MBA programs

US News & World Report has announced that among the full-time MBA programs ranked within the top-50, Simon Business School is the No. 1 most diverse MBA program in a list of highly ranked public and private business schools.

Additionally, The Economist has released its 2021 list of the world’s top full-time MBA programs, on which Simon has moved up in the rankings to No. 25 overall and No. 16 of US-based schools.

Corrected email address to report unemployment scams

Yesterday’s article about an uptick in reported unemployment scams contained an incorrect email address. To report a potential case of fraud, you should alert HR at Ask-URHR@Rochester.edu. Once notified, the Office of Human Resources will monitor claims submitted to ensure the claim is denied and will notify the Department of Labor through the employer reporting process. Sorry for the error!

COVID-19 QUICK LINKS

ROCHESTER IN THE NEWS

Is a pandemic the time for an MBA?

Financial Times, February 1

Sevin Yeltekin, dean of Simon Business School and the Frontier Communications/Rochester Telephone Professor of Business Administration, says MBAs have a different value proposition. The degrees are rooted in peer-reviewed academic research, have external oversight from accreditation agencies, and have been tested over time, she says. “That said, like every industry, business schools have to be nimble and continue innovating to maintain relevance.”
