Annual cleaning of hospital garage continues this weekend

The annual cleaning and maintenance of Strong Memorial Hospital Garage continue this weekend starting at noon today, Friday, June 11, through Sunday, June 13. The Jackson Drive entrance, South Drive entrance, and floors G,1,3, and 5 will be closed. The East Drive entrance will remain open.

Signage will be placed on roadways directing patients and visitors to available entrances. Staff is encouraged to park in College Town Garage to leave space for patients and visitors. If you have questions, call the Parking Management Center at (585) 275-4524.

Collaborative Research Funding Program

Faculty members and other principal investigators interested in promoting the transfer of data science technology to New York companies can apply for funding of up to $60,000 from the University’s Center of Excellence in Data Science. Proposed projects must involve a New York industry partner and can span a broad range of data-science-related technologies and domains. Ranking will be strongly dependent on the potential of the proposed project to generate economic impact.

Submit proposals by July 31 to Margaret Urzetta as attachments using the forms found here. Questions about the Center’s Collaborative Research Funding Program may be emailed to Mujdat Cetin.

Take a virtual tour of the Mees Observatory

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is hosting virtual summer tours via Zoom of the Mees Observatory, with students and staff from the department and members of the Astronomy Section of the Rochester Academy of Science leading the tours. The highlight of each tour will be the observation of solar system and deep-sky objects as seen by the 24-inch reflecting telescope and captured by its CCD camera. Tours are offered on many weekend nights, June through August. Reservations are required and can be made online.

Research study on dementia caregiving

Are you caring for a loved one who has dementia? Enroll in a study investigating brief programs to reduce stress and improve wellness and immune health for people ages 55 and up who are caring for a loved one with any type of dementia. Enrollment ends on August 24. Scheduling is flexible and caregivers receive up to $200 for participation. For more information, call (585) 275-6835, or email mindbody@urmc.rochester.edu.
