Sensitive parenting in childhood creates substantial cost savings

A recent study found that sensitive, responsive parenting—specifically in early childhood—has a direct correlation with not only positive mental and physical health, but also financial benefits for families and society. The study, which included contributing author Tom O’Connor, the Wynne Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, shows that average costs for children raised by the most responsive parents are well under $3,000, compared to more than $30,000 for children raised by the least responsive parents.

11th annual Shred Fest

On Friday, July 23, University Facilities and Services will hold the 11th annual Shred Fest, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Zone 3 South. University faculty, staff, students, and alumni can drop off up to five boxes or bags of unwanted personal documents to be securely shredded and recycled.
