Medallion Program workshop on consensus building

Does your group struggle to come to a decision? Do you always feel as though you are compromising or resorting to a vote to finish every conversation? Learn more about coming to a consensus and how to make decisions to keep team members energized and involved in the decision-making process at a virtual workshop taking place today, Wednesday, August 4, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. EDT. Register through the University Calendar or CCC. This event is open to undergraduate and graduate students in Art, Sciences & Engineering.

Virtual writing retreat for AS&E grad students and postdocs

Having trouble feeling motivated or finding time to write? Join a virtual writing boot camp. Log into Zoom to meet other writers, set writing goals, and most importantly, write. A writing consultant will be available throughout boot camp to help support your writing process and progress. Learn how the boot camp experience can help you manage challenges, make progress toward your writing goals, and remotivate your inner writer. This event is open to graduate students and postdocs in AS&E and takes place Monday, August 9, through Thursday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT each day. Register online to attend. Blood drive at Strong today through Friday

Help the American Red Cross and Friends of Strong ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in the area. Pre-register online for an appointment to donate blood today, August 4, through Friday, August 6, at Café 601 in Strong Memorial Hospital. Appointment times vary. Offsite University faculty and staff must enter via the main hospital entrance, present their University ID badge, and let the screeners know they have a blood drive appointment.

Get help with back to school

The fall may be rapidly approaching but there’s still time to find after-school care and help with running kids to practices, games, or lessons. Eligible employees looking for tutors, babysitters, or nannies can enroll anytime in a free Care.com premium membership to see the many care providers available in their area. Visit the family care web page for eligibility information or to enroll.

Summer carillon concert series closes tonight

Claire Janezic ’21 presents the final Hopeman Memorial Carillon concert of the summer, taking place today, Wednesday, August 4. This free outdoor concert on the Eastman Quadrangle is open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT, rain or shine.

Virtual workshop series: How to Commute by Bike

Thinking about commuting by bike and wondering how to get started? A three-part virtual workshop series, “How to Commute by Bike,” is being offered by the Department of Transportation and Parking Management. The series takes place on August 11, 18, and 25, and covers equipment, safety on the road, and bike maintenance. All classes are held from noon to 1 p.m. EDT with time for questions at the end. Registration is required for each class.

Simon non-matriculated registration

If you intend to enroll in part-time classes at Simon as part of the professional MBA program you must attend the part-time registration session designated for the particular quarter in which you wish to begin. The session takes place Tuesday, August 17, from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. EDT in Schlegel Hall, and includes an overview of the program, student resources, and team building. Register online or email ptprograms@simon.rochester.edu for more information.

Students have the option of beginning their studies before formally applying to the professional MBA program through a non-matriculated start. Non-matriculated students may start in any quarter during the year and may take a maximum of two MBA core courses. Non-matriculated students who meet entrance criteria are eligible to waive the GMAT or GRE exam requirement.
