Walk-in vaccines now available

The Strong Memorial Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy (located in the hospital lobby) is now offering convenient, free, walk-in COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines for all University employees and students Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 3 to 5 a.m. Please bring your University ID badge; students should also bring their health insurance card. Please note: This is for the primary vaccine series only; boosters are not currently approved by New York State and are not part of this vaccination effort.

There is one new case of COVID-19 to report: a River Campus student. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is known. The latest COVID-19 messages and updates can be found here.

University students: Remember to upload your proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the UHS secure portal.

University faculty and staff: Remember to upload your COVID-19 vaccination status to the faculty and staff vaccine participation form (VPN or on-campus network connection required).

White coat ceremony recognizes new medical students

Incoming medical students will be formally inducted into the School of Medicine and Dentistry during the Robert L. & Lillian H. Brent White Coat Ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday, August 13. Receiving their white coats symbolizes that the new students are joining their peers and predecessors in the medical profession. The ceremony will be streamed live.

Writing and Speaking Center seeks student writing consultants

The Writing and Speaking Center is hiring Rochester graduate students from Arts, Sciences & Engineering, the Warner School of Education, and the School of Medicine and Dentistry to become writing consultants. Consultants are graduate students from a variety of disciplines who offer writing tutoring to undergraduate and graduate student writers. The deadline to apply is September 3. Join the Memorial Art Gallery on the exhibition’s opening day, Sunday, August 15, from 2 to 3 p.m., for a brief presentation from this year’s juror, curator, artist, educator, and arts advocate Amanda Chestnut as they discuss their process and criteria for selecting the 113 works on view, featuring a variety of mediums, styles, and subject matter. This presentation will be immediately followed by announcing the five juror’s cash prize awards and the opportunity to cast your vote for the Harris Popular Vote Award that will be announced on September 1.
