TODAY’S UPDATES

Two new positive cases of COVID-19

There are two new cases of COVID-19 to report: two River Campus students. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is reported. Find the latest COVID-19 messages and updates here.

A reminder on face masks: they must be worn properly covering the nose and mouth indoors on the University’s campuses and properties. Visit the face mask FAQ page for full information. Face masks with air valves are not permitted, nor are face shields alone without a proper face mask underneath.

COVID-19 vaccination clinics

Employee Health is hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics today for University faculty, staff, students, and volunteers in Cafe 601, Strong Memorial Hospital. Bring your University ID badge; students should also bring their health insurance card. There is a Blue Line shuttle that runs every 20 minutes between River Campus, South Campus, and the Medical Center.

Walk-in clinic (Pfizer vaccine)

Appointment-only clinic (Johnson & Johnson vaccine)

More information and FAQs on vaccination can be found at the University’s COVID-19 Resource Center.

Security Tip: Lock or log off your computer

Leaving your computer unattended or unsecured allows potential thieves an opportunity to steal your confidential information or install malware on your computer. Keep in mind putting your device in “sleep mode” is not foolproof. Even though your device appears to be going to sleep, it takes a few minutes before the device is screen locked, which means individuals still have the opportunity to access your computer. Ensure your device is password protected and make a habit of logging off immediately as soon as you step away from it. Find more information on safe practices here.

‘Unequal Access: Transforming Rochester’s Food Deserts’

Food deserts are communities with limited access to affordable or high-quality fresh food, either because of inequity in the distribution of grocery stores or lack of transportation to them. These inequities mean healthy food is often unavailable to substantial portions of the community, often low-income people or people of color, leaving them with unhealthy, processed food choices. Join the Susan B. Anthony Center for a webinar on Thursday, September 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. EDT to learn about these food distribution issues as well as potential solutions to solve food inequities. Also discussed will be the newly formed Rochester Food Policy Council, created with the mandate of improving access to healthy food in our city. Learn more and register here.
