Lecture examines the toll of racism on health

Join Wade Norwood ’85, CEO of Common Ground Health in Rochester, for the next public health grand rounds webinar, “The Color of Health: The Devastating Toll of Racism on Black Lives,” on Friday, October 1, from noon to 1 p.m. EDT. Two new positive cases of COVID-19

There are two new cases of COVID-19 to report: one River Campus student and one Eastman Campus student. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is reported. Find the latest COVID-19 messages and updates here.

A reminder on face masks: they must be worn properly covering the nose and mouth indoors on the University’s campuses and properties. Visit the face mask FAQ page for full information. Face masks with air valves are not permitted, nor are face shields alone without a proper face mask underneath.

Make an appointment at a free and confidential sexually transmitted illness testing clinic, held every other Tuesday evening throughout the semester. These clinics are brought to you by the UHS Health Promotion Office, the Burgett Intercultural Center, and Trillium Health.

Industry panel series on advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion

Attend an industry-focused panel discussion on the work to further equity, diversity, and inclusion by the Simon Business School—ranked number one in U.S. News & World Report as the most diverse MBA program—and the takeaways for your organization. The virtual event takes place Monday, October 18, at noon EDT. Advanced registration is required.

Moderated by Simon School Dean Sevin Yeltekin, the panel will feature industry leaders who will discuss the role of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the future of global business—from business education to the workplace to the bottom line. Attendees will learn effective strategies to foster equity, diversity, and inclusion in their own organizations, given the challenges unique to their industry sector.

Lorri L. Jean and Darrel Cummings LGBTQ Leadership Lecture Series

Paul Kawata, executive director of the National Minority AIDS Council, will discuss his work in addressing difficult questions about the impact that race has on ending the HIV epidemic in America, coupled with the impact and response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The lecture takes place Thursday, October 14, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. EDT in the Feldman Ballroom and via live stream. Register here to attend.
