Flowcharts offer guidance for what to do if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19

Not sure what to do if you’ve been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19? The University has developed flowcharts for students and non-Medical Center faculty and staff that will guide you through the process, including who to notify and what to do based on symptoms and vaccination status. The flowcharts are available on the COVID-19 Resource Center for reference, download, and printing: Student flowchart | Faculty and staff (non-URMC) flowchart.

TODAY’S UPDATES

Update on new positive cases of COVID-19

There are four new positive cases among students to report: four on the River Campus. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is reported. Find the latest COVID-19 messages and updates here.

A reminder on face masks: they must be worn properly, covering the nose and mouth, indoors on the University’s campuses and properties. Visit the face mask FAQ page for full information on what kinds of masks are acceptable.

Upcoming enhanced security features for Microsoft 365 apps

Beginning March 1, you will be required to use Duo two-factor authentication to access Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online when not connected to the University Network. This change will enhance the security of accounts, applications, and services.

Review the items below to ensure this change does not affect your ability to work remotely.

Once this change takes place, you will receive a Duo prompt once every 30 days if you access Microsoft applications remotely. Contact your support team or the University IT Help Desk via email or at (585) 275-2000 with questions.

Tweaking the pricing algorithm

‘How life began’: Study explains how a moon helps create life on a planet

MSN News, February 3

“By understanding moon formations, we have a better constraint on what to look for when searching for Earth-like planets,” says Miki Nakajima, an assistant professor of earth and environmental sciences. “We expect that exomoons (moons orbiting planets outside our solar system) should be everywhere, but so far we haven’t confirmed any. Our constraints will be helpful for future observations.”
