Update on new positive cases of COVID-19

There are two new positive cases among students to report: one on Eastman Campus and one on River Campus.  Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is reported. Find the latest COVID-19 messages and updates here.

Today is Match Day

Today, fourth-year medical students across the US will find out where they’ll be spending the next four years for their residencies. Members of the University community are invited to join the Class of 2022 for Match Day in-person from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT in the Class of ’62 Auditorium (G-9425), Medical Center, or virtually as they are placed into their residency program. You can also share well wishes on social media using the hashtags #URochesterMatch2022 and #Match2022; by tagging @URochesterMed, @UofR, and @UR_Med on Twitter; or tagging @URochester_SMD, @urochestermed, and @urochester on Instagram.

UR Procurement (P2P) Marketplace gets an upgrade

The UR Procurement Marketplace (Jaggaer) is upgraded three times a year. UR Financials Procurement Marketplace (Jaggaer) has a scheduled upgrade occurring on Sunday, March 20. It is expected that this release will have no noticeable end-user impacts. Information will be sent to P2P users in the next week with additional details.

Mindful University Project is hiring certified yoga teachers

Are you a student who is a passionate certified yoga teacher? The Mindful University Project is hiring students to lead yoga classes for all ages and abilities during the spring semester and 2022–23 academic year at the Goergen Athletic Center.⁠ Hours are flexible and students will lead one or two hour-long yoga classes per week. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Students’ Association for Interfaith Development is recognizing the contributions of women leaders in religion on Saturday, March 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Interfaith Chapel, River Campus.

Lecture with leadership from the National Center for Transgender Equality

Attend the Lorri L. Jean & Darrel Cummings LGBTQ Leadership Lecture on Monday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The National Center for Transgender Equality’s Mara Keisling, founder, and Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen, executive director, will talk about LGBTQ leadership, trans rights, and the fight for trans equality. The event takes place in the Feldman Ballroom, Douglass Commons, and will also be streamed live. Learn more.

Eastman Presents series offers diverse programming

The Eastman School of Music and its Eastman Presents series offers discounted tickets to three upcoming performances, emphasizing a unique and diverse lineup of artists.

  • Lorelei Ensemble, one of the world’s premier women’s choral groups, will perform Monday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall. Tickets start at $32.
  • Afropop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Okaidja Afroso will perform in Hatch Recital Hall on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
  • Enjoy Aizuri Quartet’s technical bravado on Sunday, March 27, 3 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall. Tickets start at $29.

Forum on COVID-19 and sex

Kathryn Sandberg, professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University, presents “COVID-19: What’s Sex Got To Do With It?,” on Monday, March 28, at 5 p.m. EDT in the Feldman Ballroom, Douglass Commons, or virtually. Gloria Culver, dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, will moderate the discussion. Learn more about the event and register here. Multimedia exhibit at the Hartnett Art Gallery

Works by Brooklyn-based artist Corinne Spencer are on display in the Hartnett Art Gallery through April 7. Splendor explores the restorative connection between Black women and the natural world, re-envisioning the historically violent relationship between Black bodies and the American landscape as one steeped in romance, sensuality, and the spiritual introspection of solitude. The gallery is located on the second floor of Wilson Commons and is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 7 p.m. EDT.

Join the QuadFox 5K Challenge

Registration is now open for the annual QuadFox 5K, sponsored by Wilson Commons Student Activities. All members of the University community can join to run, jog, walk, roll, or dance to complete the 3.1 miles together. New this year, undergraduate and graduate students can complete the race in person on April 24 via a designated campus course; all other participants will complete the race virtually. Registration is open now through April 15. Complete and submit your time for the virtual component by April 24 and you may be eligible for a finisher’s T-shirt.

Zero-Cost Heroes: Team Warner

This week, River Campus Libraries is recognizing individuals who are championing resources that are low- or no-cost and are easily accessible. Scott McGuinness ʼ20W (PhD), an assistant professor of counseling and human development at the Warner School of Education, and Kyle Sullivan, a doctoral student at Warner, are working to address that by setting a new precedent for open pedagogy and open education in the field of counseling.
