ROCHESTER IN THE NEWS

Celebrating graduation with a ‘fill-in family’

Inside Higher Ed, May 12

A new program at Rochester pairs faculty and staff with international students whose families can’t attend graduation. “Some of the students were unexpectedly not able to have their family come, so it’s very disappointing,” says Molly Morrison, assistant dean of international student affairs in the College, who came up with the idea. “Others knew that that would never be an option for them. So having somebody there for them specifically is really heartwarming because we have receptions that they can go to together.”
