As campaign nears its end, heartfelt thanks for supporting United Way

The University’s 2022 United Way workplace campaign is coming to a close. To date, more than $1.1 million has been raised and the University’s campaign leadership would like to thank everyone who has taken part. Your collective generosity will help strengthen this community. If you would still like to donate, online pledging will remain open via the HRMS homepage until the end of this month, or you can pledge on the campaign website.

What parents need to know about sharing breast milk

The New York Times, May 22

“The milk banks in this country are very good, but milk tends to be prioritized for high-risk infants,” says Casey Rosen-Carole, an assistant professor of pediatrics and of obstetrics and gynecology and director of the Ruth A. Lawrence Program in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. “In the outpatient world, it’s very difficult to get donor milk and it tends to be very costly—$4 to $5 an ounce, even.”

Register for LGBTQ+ Safe Space training

New opportunities are available to register for LGBTQ+ Safe Space courses. Registration for the first course, “Part 1: Gaining Knowledge,” is available by searching “Safe Space Playlist” in MyPath. Following completion, registration is available for “Part 2: Creating Safety,” which allows faculty and staff to become LGBTQ+ Safe Space Champions. Classes are free and virtual. Tasty Tuesday food trucks today

Treat yourself to cuisine from local food trucks on Wilson Quadrangle on the River Campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday during the summer. Virtual session on Rochester’s Asian community

Mass for the Feast of the Ascension, prayers for those affected by the Buffalo shooting

The Catholic Newman Community will host a mass for the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord on Thursday, May 26. Gather to remember and pray for the victims of the tragedy in Buffalo, their families, and anyone affected by this act of violence. Mass begins at 12:30 p.m. and will take place on the River Level in the Interfaith Chapel, River Campus.
