Video provides 2022 endowment update

The University’s Investment Office and Office of Advancement have prepared a video update about the institution’s endowment, including information about how the endowment is invested and managed.

Flags will be lowered for Kymberley Maslyn

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered Tuesday, May 31, for Kymberley Maslyn, a registered nurse in Finger Lakes Cardiology Nursing, who died on May 10. Maslyn joined the University staff in 2009.

What is monkeypox, its symptoms, and threat to you?

“Smallpox patients became contagious as soon as they developed sores spread the virus through droplets with coughing or sneezing. They remained contagious until their lesions resolved,” says Paritosh Prasad, an associate professor of surgery, of medicine, and of pediatrics. However, based on available historical information, monkeypox appears to be less contagious than smallpox, says Prasad.

Deadline extended for Research Equity Fund Program

The Institutional Office of Equity and Inclusion is providing short-term and immediate funding to support faculty research through the Research Equity Fund Program. During spring and summer 2022, the program will support full-time University faculty for research activities disrupted by COVID-19 through research funding for clinical or instructional faculty engaged in research activities, or for tenure-line faculty who did not have research funds during 2021–22.

Awards will be for up to $5,000 to cover any costs associated with research between June 1 and August 31, 2022, including childcare; travel costs; equipment; software; transcription or editing services; statistical, consulting, or data management or analysis support; or publishing fees.

The Catholic Newman Community will host a mass for the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord today, May 26. Gather to remember and pray for the victims of the tragedy in Buffalo, their families, and anyone affected by this act of violence. Mass begins at 12:30 p.m. and will take place on the River Level in the Interfaith Chapel, River Campus.
