Everything you need to know about the COVID-19 vaccines approved for young children

The CDC has unanimously authorized the Pfizer and BioNTech SE and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for children ages six months to 5 years old. Jennifer Nayak, an associate professor of pediatrics and of microbiology and immunology, answers some frequently asked questions about the vaccines, including why the vaccines are continuously proven to be safe and effective.

Gift establishes new professorship in vascular surgery

Kenneth Ouriel ’77, ’86M (Res), ’87M (Flw), and his wife, Joy Bracker Ouriel, have committed $1.5 million to establish the Kenneth and Joy Ouriel Family Professorship within the Medical Center’s Division of Vascular Surgery. The couple’s endowed gift will advance excellence within the vascular surgery program and provide resources to honor, recruit, and retain world-class faculty and staff leaders.

Alternative transportation for University employees

A recent survey from the Department of Transportation and Parking Management found that the vast majority of University employees (83 percent) drove alone to work and that many were open to alternative transportation options. AAPI faculty panel discussion

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Trainee Support Committee will host the first AAPI faculty panel discussion on Friday, June 24, from noon to 1 p.m. EDT on Zoom. Ying Meng, an assistant professor at the School of Nursing; Jenny Shen, an assistant professor of medicine and of clinical nursing; and Leway Chen, a professor of medicine, will discuss their experiences in academia to help trainees navigate systemic racism in academia and training and receive support. Register in advance to attend; you’ll receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.​
