Lisa Kitko, the associate dean for graduate education and director of the PhD program at the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at Penn State University, has been named the sixth dean of the School of Nursing effective September 1. Kitko replaces Kathy Rideout, who announced last year she was stepping down after 11 years as dean.
“It’s my pleasure to welcome Lisa Kitko as the next dean of the UR School of Nursing,” said Mark Taubman, Medical Center CEO. “Lisa has an outstanding academic record, and I believe that she has the ability to take our School of Nursing to the next level with regard to research, scholarship, and educational innovation. Lisa’s engaging and enthusiastic personality will be an ideal fit within the Medical Center, and I look forward to working with her on bringing the School of Nursing and School of Medicine and Dentistry together and enhancing the School of Nursing’s research profile throughout the University.”

The University’s Quidditch Team will be offering a demo, there will be free refreshments, and a summer carillon concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Center for Community Engagement to honor Rochester Youth Year, Urban Fellows cohorts
The Center for Community Engagement will conduct separate virtual closing ceremonies via Zoom for participants in the Rochester Youth Year and Urban Fellows programs to share work that they have undertaken in the local community. Both are open to the public.
Earlier this year, as part of the Eastman School of Music’s centennial, the Eastman New Jazz Ensemble was joined by seven-time Grammy award-winning artist Maria Schneider. Schneider conducted six of her own compositions, including a premiere of “The Great Potoo,” commissioned as part of Eastman’s centennial celebrations.
