SECURITY TIP

Would you take the bait?

Have you ever received an email from your bank or other trusted company urging you to click a link, log in with your credentials, and verify “changes” to your account immediately or face suspension of that account? Do not click the link: this is a phishing scam. By clicking a link and logging in, you provide your login credentials on what appears to be a legitimate site. University IT advises when in doubt, throw it out. If you get a suspicious email from a company, never trust the contact information provided in the email. Instead, use your web browser to research verified contact information and reach out to the company directly. Visit University IT’s phishing education page for tips on identifying phishing emails.
