In a message sent yesterday to the University community, David Figlio, provost and Gordon Fyfe Professor of Economics and Education, and Liz Milavec, executive vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer, shared University resources that contain the most current information on monkeypox (MPV). The University is closely monitoring the emergence of MPV in New York State and the surrounding region and has developed guidance in coordination with infectious disease experts, the Monroe County Health Department, and the New York State Department of Health.
Reminder: complete your annual training on harassment and discrimination in MyPath
In pursuit of the University’s Meliora values and in compliance with state and federal law, the University requires all faculty and staff to complete annual training on how to identify and react to workplace harassment and discrimination. To fulfill this year’s requirement, the University is again utilizing the “Culture of Respect: Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Discrimination” course created in 2021. The training is assigned in MyPath and must be completed by September 30. Additional learning opportunities are available in MyPath by searching for “EDI Playlist”. For more information and frequently asked questions about the training, visit the Institutional Office of Equity and Inclusion website.

Public speaking tutoring available during school year
As instructors prepare for the fall semester, remember that speaking fellows—trained undergraduate peer tutors—will be available to help students with any and all public speaking assignments. Students can sign up for an appointment to receive feedback from one of the tutors. If you’re including a public speaking assignment on your syllabus, add a note about the support the speaking fellows can offer.
The speaking fellows are also available for short class visits and full-length workshops for classes and groups. For more information or for guidance on adding more public speaking instruction and support into your classroom, email Amy Arbogast.
