Move-in day will affect staff parking

First-year students in the College are scheduled to arrive on campus on Tuesday, August 23, which will have a significant impact on campus traffic flow and parking. Valentine Lot, all of Zone 3 South, and the entire length of Intercampus Lot will be needed for the move-in process. Employees who regularly park in these lots will need to park in the Bloch Alumni Advancement Center lot; a shuttle will run from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. between this lot and the River Campus. Any vehicles left in Zone 3 South or Valentine Lot after 11 p.m. on Monday, August 22, will be towed to the far end of that lot at the owner’s expense.

To reduce the load on alternative parking and traffic flow, employees may want to consider working remotely on Tuesday, August 23, or take it as a vacation day with your supervisor’s approval. While there are important departmental functions that must be maintained that day, departments are urged to approve vacation requests that will not excessively disrupt their activities.

There will be minimal impact on parking on Wednesday, August 24, as parents may still be on campus for orientation events. Regular overflow may occur on this day. If you have questions, contact the Department of Transportation and Parking Management at (585) 275-4524 or parking@rochester.edu.

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Annual training for handling payment card data

Do you handle payment cards (credit or debit cards) or end-of-day balancing, or oversee a point-of-sale database or card accepting software application for merchant processing? If so, the PCI Security Standards Council requires annual training, which can be found in MyPath by entering “What is PCI” in the search box in the upper right corner. Please note that the training applies to all merchants accepting cards via retail point of sale, call centers, and online payments—including MyChart, Student, Donors, Slate, and Stripe. If you’re unsure if you handle card data, the Office of Treasury Management suggests taking the training since it is about 15 minutes and can have a personal benefit. Email Kathy King-Griswold with questions.
