TODAY’S UPDATES

Changes coming to Blackboard

On December 29, a number of changes will be coming to Blackboard including how the site is accessed via authentication, a significant makeover to the site’s navigation pages, and the use of accessibility features. There will be no changes to courses or course functionality, just the web page navigation surrounding the courses.

Some downtime will be required to make these changes, and specifics will be communicated as the date approaches. Faculty can register now for workshops beginning Wednesday, December 7, explaining the changes and benefits. Information for students is forthcoming.

Public Safety offers electronic device registration program

The most common items that are reported lost or stolen to the Department of Public Safety are personal electronic devices including phones, tablets, and laptops. If your personal device is lost or stolen, and you report the loss to Public Safety, the officer will ask you to provide information about your device, such as the make, model, and serial number—information that you probably don’t have if the item is no longer in your possession. By registering your personal electronic device with Public Safety, this important information will remain on file and can be called upon in the event you report your device lost or stolen. Though not a guarantee, Public Safety is more likely to recover your lost or stolen item if they have this information on record. Register your devices here.

Douglass Leadership House and the International Theatre Program are holding an audition and a workshop for interested students to be part of the spring production of Carlyle Brown’s The African Company Presents Richard III.  Based on true events, the play tells the story of the first African American theatre company, their decision to challenge the dominant culture in presenting their own version of Shakespeare’s Richard III, and what happens as a result. No prior experience is necessary. Being cast requires a half-semester commitment; you’ll receive five academic course credits.
