TODAY’S UPDATES

Webinars on new NIH data management and sharing policy for research community

The Office of the Vice President for Research will be hosting webinars with representatives from the Office of Research and Project Administration, the Office for Human Subject Protection, the University Libraries including both the River Campus Libraries and the Edward G. Miner Library, and the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, to present and answer questions on the new NIH data management and sharing policy taking effect January 25. Content and speakers will be the same for both webinar sessions, which will provide a brief overview of the new policy, how it will affect research, how to write and budget for a data management and sharing plan, and resources available at the institution to help with compliance. Register to attend a session on Thursday, January 5, from 11 a.m. to noon EST or Tuesday, January 10, from 3 to 4 p.m. EST.

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Update information regarding your W-2 forms

University employees can elect to receive their W-2 forms electronically. Consenting to receive your W-2 electronically eliminates the possibility of your W-2 statement being misplaced or lost in the mail. By consenting, you will receive a notification in January via email when your W-2 is available to view or print. To consent, log in to HRMS and go to Self Service > Payroll and Compensation > W-2/W-2c Consent, check the box to consent and submit by January 6. Individuals who previously consented to receive their W-2 statements electronically do not need to consent again. If you have not consented by January 6 to receive your W-2 electronically, your W-2 will be mailed to your mailing address indicated in HRMS. To verify and update your address in HRMS, go to Self Service > Personal Information > Personal Details. Address updates need to be completed by January 13. Contact the Payroll and Tax Compliance Office at (585) 275-2040 or payroll@rochester.edu with questions.

LGBTQ+ Safe Space champions

Start 2023 by becoming a University LGBTQ+ Safe Space champion. The courses are for University employees, are free, and remain virtual. Registration is now open via MyPath. The first course is “Part 1: Gaining Knowledge,” and can be found by searching for the “Safe Space Playlist.” Following the completion of this course, employees may register to complete “Part 2: Creating Safety.” Employees may then choose to become an LGBTQ+ Safe Space champion. Direct questions to the Office of Learning and Development.

Life insurance beneficiary information

You may view or change your life insurance beneficiary information online anytime by logging into HRMS and clicking on “Securian Financial.” If you do not name a beneficiary, policy benefits will be paid, in order of priority, to your lawful spouse, children, parents, siblings, or estate.
