Starting February 1, shuttle riders will need to swipe their ID card as they board University’s shuttle buses, except for the employee Scottsville shuttle. The anonymized data sets collected will help Transportation and Parking Management analyze the supply and demand of parking and transportation on University campuses and will inform the current and future transportation needs of the University community.
Flags will be lowered for Thomas Steedle
University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered Tuesday, February 7, for Thomas Steedle, a central service tech with Strong Memorial Hospital, who died on January 18. Steedle joined the University staff in 2022.

Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship deadline is February 14
The Center for Education Abroad reminds students of the opportunity to apply for the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship, which offers a full scholarship to study abroad this summer. All program fees are covered, as well as round-trip airfare. The application deadline is February 14. In addition to the fellowship, all applicants will receive a $1,500 grant toward any Council On International Educational Exchange program whether or not they are selected for the fellowship, and the University will match the $1,500 grant. Workshop: ‘Conversations on Race and Poverty in Rochester’
The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center are facilitating an interactive workshop that will include small-group and whole-group discussions to explore the connections between race and poverty in Rochester’s community. The workshop takes place Wednesday, February 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center, Douglass Commons. Learn more and register here.
