Study seeks to understand allergic resistance in Old Order Mennonites

With a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, pediatric researchers at the Medical Center will study the farming lifestyle of the Old Order Mennonite population and its correlation with lower rates of allergic disease.

Virtual writing retreat for AS&E graduate students

The Graduate Writing Project is hosting a virtual writing retreat May 8–11, from 4 to 8 p.m. each day for AS&E graduate students who are working on graduate-level writing such as dissertations, theses, proposals, and publications. This structured writing experience offers guidance, accountability, and community as well as the option to work one-on-one with a writing consultant. One Community Program seeks panelists

The Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center is seeking undergraduate panelists for this year’s One Community Program held during Welcome Week for incoming first-year and transfer students on Thursday, August 24. ‘Mindful Practice in Medicine Core Workshop’ tuition reimbursement for Medical Center employees

The “Mindful Practice in Medicine Core Workshop: Find Joy and Resilience, and Enhance Quality of Care” is now approved for tuition reimbursement for eligible Medical Center employees. The immersive retreat-like experience will help you to energize your clinical work, find joy and resilience, and address burnout and moral distress. To ensure tuition reimbursement, proof of tuition cost, proof of payment, and proof of successful course completion need to be received by the Office of Total Rewards via email no later than 90 days following course completion. BBQ to support patient-care initiatives at Strong

Join Friends of Strong for a BBQ lunch fundraiser in support of patient- and family-centered care at Strong Memorial Hospital from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at the Sarah Flaum Atrium. Each Texas Bar-B-Q Joint meal includes one mesquite-smoked bone-in chicken thigh, along with pulled pork, smoked sausage, baked beans, macaroni salad, cornbread, and a bottle of water (while supplies last) for $10. Walk-up only; no curbside pickup. Tickets are available at the Friends of Strong Gift Shop, and 312 Requests will be processed via the Friends of Strong Office at (585) 275-2420.
