Warner School receives funding to host an international cohort of Fulbright teachers

The Warner School of Education and Human Development has received funding to host 17 Fulbright teachers from 12 countries this fall through the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers. The Warner School is one of three host institutions in the nation for the program, which is sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and implemented by IREX.

Celebrating the opening of the new outpatient orthopaedic surgery center

University leaders hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Surgery Center at Marketplace Mall. Read more about the celebration on the URMC Intranet. University network access/VPN required.

Flags will be lowered for John Leddy

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Tuesday, May 30, for John Leddy, a professor emeritus of immunology and rheumatology, who died on March 19. Leddy joined the University faculty in 1962.

Bursar’s Office closing early today

The Bursar’s Office will close at 3 p.m. today, May 26.

Department of Physics and Astronomy offers free public tours at the CEK Mees Observatory

In-person tours of the CEK Mees Observatory are available in the Bristol Hills near Canandaigua this summer, from June through mid-August. These tours include a visit to the historic Gannett House as well as presentations on astronomy topics, a demonstration of the 24-inch Cassegrain reflector telescope, and observation of deep sky objects if the skies are clear. Reservations are required.

Last month, University groundskeeper Michael Chudyk helped rescue a man who had fallen into the Genesee River. This week, Advantage Federal Credit Union presented him with its first-ever Good Citizen Award.
