TODAY'S UPDATES

Changes are coming to Zoom and Cisco VPN logins

Given continued efforts to streamline the end-user experience and increase consistency across University applications and services, the University is moving toward using a single authentication technology. Currently, faculty, staff, and students use either NetID credentials (HRMS) or Active Directory (AD) credentials (Workday, Blackboard, Wireless) to gain access to systems and applications. Over the past year, many applications and systems have transitioned from NetID to AD for authentication and authorization. On August 2, users logging into Zoom must use their AD username and password instead of their NetID. On August 9, users logging into Cisco AnyConnect for VPN will be required to use their AD username and password instead of their NetID. While most faculty, staff, and students already have the same (synched) username for their NetID and AD credentials, some do not. For those who do not, you will be provided with additional information on how to manage this change. Learn more about these changes and what to expect.

UR Procurement (P2P) Marketplace gets an upgrade

The UR Procurement Marketplace (Jaggaer) is upgraded three times a year. The next scheduled upgrade will occur the weekend of July 14. The UR Procurement Marketplace will be unavailable for placing catalog requisitions and the transmission of all P2P purchase orders to suppliers from Friday, July 14, at 9 p.m. through the afternoon of Sunday, July 16. The upgrade will have no noticeable end-user impacts. If you have questions or experience any issues, send an email or call (585) 275-2012.

SECURITY TIP

Get shredded at Friday's Shred Fest

Keep your identity safe by shredding documents containing personal information including bank statements, pay stubs, and canceled checks. Simply recycling or throwing documents away from these treasure troves for identity thieves is not enough to protect valuable information. University IT offers a quick tip: if you ditch those mail statements and go paperless with your accounts, you can protect your information, save paper, and save on potential hidden fees. University Facilities and Services makes shredding convenient with the 13th annual Shred Fest. All staff, faculty, students, and alumni are welcome to drop off up to five boxes or bags of unwanted personal documents from home to be securely and confidentially recycled on Friday, July 14, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Zone 3 South parking lot. Not sure what to bring or how to prepare? Find everything you need to know about Shred Fest.

Webinar on gene therapy in neurology

In 2018, Medical Center neurologists delivered gene therapy to an infant born with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Since then, the SMA gene therapy program has grown and children with SMA now live near-normal lives. In 2022, children that came to the medical center were among the first to receive experimental gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. These treatments are part of an accelerating trend of research and clinical trials involving gene therapies that marshal the expertise of our Department of Neurology.

As part of the virtual “Experience Rochester series,” join a panel of Medical Center neurologists on Thursday, July 13, for a discussion on how far they’ve come in treating these neurological diseases and the optimistic future for many similar conditions. Register now.
