Racial disparities discovered in patients with implantable cardiac devices

New Medical Center research shows that Black patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators have a significantly higher burden of disease than white patients with the same device.

Black suicide rates, once among the nation’s lowest, have risen dramatically among youths

In 2020, suicide was the leading cause of death for Black girls aged 12 to 14, says Arielle Sheftall, an associate professor of psychiatry. “We don’t know why, and that hinders our ability to prevent these deaths from occurring,” says Sheftall. “That’s the scariest piece of all.”

Getting ready for myURHR: Project enters testing phase

The University is moving into another important phase in the development of myURHR, the new Human Resources information system replacing HRMS in the spring of 2024: the testing and training phase. Over the next several months, the project team will test business processes in myURHR to ensure everything is working properly. myURHR will enable efficient digital workflows for many HR-related processes such as viewing and managing benefits and payroll data (including paychecks); updating personal information; recruiting and hiring new employees; and tracking time worked and submitting time-off requests.

Tuition reimbursement reminder
