In April 2020, the University received a new designation from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), becoming one of about a dozen Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers in the country. A year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Rochester, in partnership with the Mary Cariola Center, took on a $4 million project, funded by the NIH Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics-Underserved Populations program. On Wednesday, August 9, starting at 9 p.m., the Department of Transportation and Parking Management’s online services will be unavailable for about two hours due to a scheduled system upgrade. A new look for Duo is coming soon
In the next several weeks, there will be a new look for Duo Security as University IT rolls out a redesigned Duo authentication prompt for all Microsoft 365 apps and tools. No action will be needed on your part and all the same functionality will remain but with a newer streamlined appearance. Find out what to expect with the change.
The International Students’ Association is planning a new event this fall: the International Fashion Show on September 29 at 6 p.m. Students from different cultures, countries, and regions of the world can wear and showcase their cultural and traditional attire in a fashion show to celebrate and spread awareness about the multicultural diversity at the University. Sign up here if you’d like to represent your country, culture, or region. You don’t have to be part of any cultural clubs to participate, and the International Students’ Association will help prepare you for the event. Bring your cultural or traditional attire with you.

Upcoming strategic planning discussion forum
All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a discussion forum to learn more about the University’s Boundless Possibility 2030 strategic plan goals and objectives, ask questions, and provide feedback. A virtual session via Zoom will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9. No registration is required. This is the final session for the summer; more will be scheduled in the fall.
Postdocs: Apply to present your work at the Steadman Awards
University postdoctoral associates and fellows from all areas and in any discipline are encouraged to apply to present their work on September 21 during National Postdoc Appreciation Week. Selected finalists will give a three-minute oral presentation to a panel of judges and compete for multiple monetary prizes as part of the Steadman Family Postdoctoral Associate Prize. New course: Innovations in Clinical Teaching for Nurse Educators
In a new, hybrid course from the School of Nursing, students will dive into teaching techniques tailored specifically for nursing education in clinical settings. Designed to empower clinical faculty with the latest tools and strategies, the course aims to enhance the facilitation and assessment of student learning within the clinical environment.
