This year, first-year students in the College are arriving on campus over a two-day period: Monday, August 21, and Tuesday, August 22. This will affect some on-campus traffic flow and parking. The Larry and Cindy Bloch Alumni and Advancement Center (BAAC) lot will be used as the staging area for the move-in process. Employees who regularly park there should plan to park in the smaller lots at BAAC near the catering entrance and at the Alumni Center. The entire large BAAC lot will be used to line up cars waiting to unload on the River Campus. Any vehicles parked in the large BAAC Lot after 6 a.m. on Monday, August 21, will be towed to the adjacent small lots at the owner’s expense.
Students, faculty, and staff who park in any Zone 2 or Zone 3 lots will experience increased volume, as parents and families will be directed to park in available spaces in any lot along the entire length of Intercampus Drive, from the Facilities Building at the south end to the tennis courts at the north end. To reduce the load on alternative parking and traffic flow, employees who are not involved with new-student arrival and orientation may consider taking vacation days with your supervisor’s approval. While there are important departmental functions that must be maintained that day, departments are urged to approve vacation requests that will not excessively disrupt these activities.
There may be continued impact on parking on Wednesday, August 23, as parent and family orientation events continue. Regular overflow may occur on this day. If you have questions, contact the Department of Transportation and Parking Management at (585) 275-4524 or parking@rochester.edu.

Getting Ready for myURHR: Timekeeping ‘Fast Facts’ video
Review the new myURHR “Fast Facts” video about timekeeping for insight into how University members will be able to track time, request time off, view accrual balances, and receive approval notifications. Timekeeping will be a core function of myURHR when it replaces HRMS in spring 2024. Visit the myURHR webpages for more “Fast Facts” videos, updated FAQs, and support resources.
Voting for Genesee Staff Council representatives open
Voting for Genesee Staff Council district representatives is now open to staff in the following districts: Advancement; Arts, Sciences & Engineering; Auxiliary and Unions; Central Administration; Eastman School of Music; Laboratory for Laser Energetics; Memorial Art Gallery; School of Medicine and Dentistry Administration, Basic Sciences, and Clinical Sciences; Simon Business School; and University IT. If you are in an eligible district, you should have received your ballot via email this week. Your representative will work with staff in your district to bring concerns to the council and senior administration. Voting will close on August 28 at 11:59 p.m.

Take a public tour and explore 5,000 years of world art in the Memorial Art Gallery’s collection and temporary exhibitions. Upon arrival, let the admission desk know that you wish to join the tour. Public tours are approximately 60 minutes and are included in museum admission, which is free for faculty, staff, and students with their University ID. Summer tour times through August take place on Thursdays at 6:45 p.m.
