TODAY'S UPDATES

Urgent: Apple releases security updates for zero-day vulnerability

University IT shares that Apple has released security updates for iPhones, iPads, and Macs to patch against two vulnerabilities within WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and other applications. The vulnerability, which is being actively exploited, allows hackers to remotely plant malicious code, such as spyware, on the person’s device over the internet without the user’s knowledge they are being hacked.

  • On iPhone and iPad devices, check for updates by going to Settings—General—Software Update.
  • Devices running versions of macOS Monterey or Ventura (Mac OS 12 or 13), should click the software update button immediately to install the update.
  • Apple is currently working to resolve issues for the watchOS 10.2 and tvOS 17.2.

You can get more information on this vulnerability by reading this article by TechCrunch.
