University IT shares the Better Business Bureau’s “Naughty List of Scams” for this holiday season. Remember, you can avoid most scams by exercising caution when it comes to links, too-good-to-be-true social media ads, and suspicious emails or texts. Avoid any website that doesn’t show a lock in its URL field, as this quickly indicates an unsafe website.
Due to the University’s observance of the New Year’s holiday on Monday, January 1, the pay date for biweekly hourly will be Friday, January 5. This change impacts the payroll processing submission deadline for biweekly hourly payroll for the pay period ending December 30. All time must be entered and approved by noon on Tuesday, January 2. Tips on how timekeepers and employees can prepare for the accelerated deadline can be found on the payroll web page.
OSSIA New Music, in collaboration with Eastman Performing Arts Medicine, offers an immersive, meditative sound experience today, December 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. for employees, faculty, and students walking through Sarah Flaum Atrium in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. During “Music for Hospitals,” the listener is invited to enter, leave, and move around freely, taking up different vantage points to create their own listening experience. 1934: The Boar’s Head Dinner, one of the University’s oldest and most beloved traditions, began on December 17, and is held annually near the end of the fall semester. The medieval celebration—which recalls the spirit of English court dinners during the Middle Ages—begins with a trumpet call and procession of students, faculty, and administrators in chorus.
