Nominations open for Student Employee of the Year

The Student Employment Office invites faculty and staff to nominate outstanding undergraduate or graduate student employees for Student Employee of the Year. The winners will receive an award in April from the University and compete at the national level for National Student Employee of the Year organized by the National Student Employment Association. The nomination form is due by February 16.

Provost’s spring office hours

University Provost David Figlio holds regular office hours to meet with members of the University community and to learn more about their experiences at Rochester. Spring semester office hours are now available. Sign up here for one of these informal meetings. Spaces are limited. When arriving, use the front door to Wallis Hall (public entrance on Wilson Boulevard). Contact the Office of the Provost if you need assistance or have difficulty accessing the form.

‘Simon Stories: Meet Your Potential Future Classmates’

If you’re considering graduate school as a working professional, register for the upcoming webinar “Simon Stories: Meet Your Potential Future Classmates” on Tuesday, January 23, from noon to 12:30 p.m. Current Simon Business School students will share their experiences in the part-time programs, offer advice for balancing priorities, and give tips for going back to school. Attendees of the live session will receive an application fee waiver (a $90 value). For those unable to attend, a recording will be emailed to the address used at registration.

MAG mobile library

Enjoy free activities, book browsing, and coloring pages featuring the art of local artist Jackie Davis of “Underpants and Overbites” at the Memorial Art Gallery’s mobile library on Thursday, January 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Vanden Brul Pavilion. The event is free to the public, and all ages are welcome. Hosted by the museum’s Charlotte Whitney Allen Library.

Carillon composition award

The Arthur Satz Department of Music is accepting new arrangements or compositions that are original, musical, and accessible for playing on the Hopeman Carillon for the Rochester Carillon Composition Competition Award. Submissions will be accepted through January 31 and are welcomed from any University student or alumni. Submissions will be judged competitively, with prizes of $500 for the winner and $400 for the runner-up.

Webinar on master’s programs in the Department of Public Health Sciences

Join Department of Public Health Sciences faculty for a webinar about the department’s master’s programs on Wednesday, February 14, from noon to 12:30 p.m. The webinar will highlight key elements of each program and discuss program requirements and the application process, as well as the accelerated public health program for undergraduates. Register in advance, even if you cannot attend, by completing this registration form. A link to a recording of the webinar will be sent to all registrants, regardless of attendance, after the event.
