Global Photo Contest deadline extended to March 29

The deadline to submit to the 2024 Global Photo Contest has been extended to Friday, March 29. Any student who studied abroad during 2023 is eligible to submit for the Center for Education Abroad side and any current international or exchange student is eligible for the International Service Office side of the contest. Each student is limited to three photos in total for submission. Submit photos here.

Test your wellness knowledge

Join a wellness-focused “Jeopardy!” game in Havens Lounge, Wilson Commons, on Friday, March 29, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a chance to test your wellness knowledge. Apply to the STEMFORALL summer research program

Interested in getting involved in undergraduate research in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or data science but unsure of how or where to start? Apply to join the STEMFORALL summer research program. The immersive, two-week program consists of lectures and supervised research projects. Learn what it means to be a researcher and how to become one. The program takes place from July 29 to August 9. Apply by Friday, April 12.

Workshop on applying Universal Design for Learning in seminar courses

Open to all University instructors, this one-hour Teaching Center Zoom workshop provides strategies for designing seminar courses that are effective, challenging, and equitably accessible and engaging for all learners using the Universal Design for Learning framework. Register to attend on Thursday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to noon.

College course development fellowship

Designing a new or redesigning an existing fall 2024 course that enrolls students in the School of Arts & Sciences or Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences? Work with the Teaching Center and a group of colleagues over the summer to plan and meet during the fall semester to debrief and troubleshoot. Fellows are awarded a $1,000 non-salary stipend.  Applications are due April 19.

This is the last call for members of the University community to cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award in this year’s Art of Science Competition. Pick your favorite among 84 entries today, March 26, at midnight. Winners will be announced on May 1 at the Art of Science Reception.

Hybrid event with Open Scholarship Rochester, Open @ RIT

Join Open Scholarship Community Rochester—which comprises academics and support staff working at the University and in the Rochester region—on Friday, March 29, for a hybrid discussion of how the academic research environment is embracing openness at an accelerated rate and learn what steps funders and institutions are taking to encourage this cultural change. “Decoding Open @ RIT: Understanding the Role of an Open Programs Office on Campus” will detail how the office fosters the creation and distribution of open works across campus. Attendees can also join a tour of the MAGIC Center, RIT’s digital sandbox for technology, art, and design.

The discussion and tour are scheduled for Friday, March 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at RIT’s MAGIC Center, 300 Lomb Memorial Drive. Lunch is provided. Register here to attend.

Participate in a Medical Center HIV vaccine research study

If you are HIV-negative, healthy, and between the ages of 18 and 55, you may be eligible to take part in an HIV vaccine research study at the Medical Center. For this study, volunteers are needed who plan to stay in the Rochester area over the next several months. Volunteers are compensated approximately $750 for participation.
