Every year, the Center for Education Abroad and International Services Office give Rochester students the opportunity to tap into their inner photographer through their respective photo contests. This year’s contests drew submissions from 49 international students and 54 students who traveled abroad. Read more about some of the top photos.

2024 University Research Award recipients

Selected by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the annual University Research Awards provide seed money on a competitive basis for innovative research projects that, when sufficiently developed, are likely to attract external support. Learn about this year’s recipients.


IN MEMORIAM

Flags will be lowered for Michael Jacob Adams

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Thursday, June 6, for Michael Jacob Adams, an associate professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences, who died on April 27. Adams joined the University faculty in 1997.

REAL Conversations: Juneteenth celebration

Based on her latest book, Racial Justice at Work: Practical Solutions for Systemic Change, University Life Trustee Mary-Frances Winters ’73, ’82S (MBA) will explore pivotal themes driving discourse on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Join Winters on June 17 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. as she explores how organizations and leaders can sustain their commitment to repairing harm and actualizing equity for all. The virtual event will be moderated by Adrienne Morgan ’13W (PhD), vice president for equity and inclusion and the Richard Feldman Chief Diversity Officer. Register now.

Free cancer screening program partners with SkyHope PALS

The Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region (CSP-FLR) is partnering with SkyHope PALS to provide free medical and compassion flights for patients diagnosed with cancer. The CSP-FLR is a grant-funded program that works with approximately 200 healthcare providers throughout the Finger Lakes region to provide free colon, breast, and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic care for eligible, uninsured individuals. To request more information about free cancer screenings for the uninsured, email csp@urmc.rochester.edu or call (585) 224-3070. To request a free flight, visit the SkyHope PALS website.

Student in University of Rochester track uniform participating in the triple jump

Congratulations to Cole Goodman ’25 on taking home the NCAA Division III title in the triple jump for his first-ever national championship and the first national title for the men’s track and field program in 35 years.
