FOR THE COMMUNITY

Virtual talk on prostate cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime. In New York state, Black men are one and a half times more likely to get prostate cancer and almost twice as likely to die of the disease compared to white men. Visit the Center for Community Health & Prevention’s Facebook page today, June 13, any time after 11 a.m. as Darrell Vickers, peer educator for the New York State Department of Health’s prostate cancer education grant at the Center for Community Health & Prevention, presents “Calling all Men: Screening and Early Detection of Prostate Cancer Can Save Lives.” The pre-taped presentation shares the risks of prostate cancer, especially for Black men, guidelines on screening, and support available for shared decision-making. The talk is a special event for Men’s Health Month.
