Tom Golisano makes $50 million commitment to build the new Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute

Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and civic leader B. Thomas Golisano (above) has made a historic $50 million commitment to the University, making it possible to build the Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute at the Medical Center. The gift is the largest single gift in University history and the largest single gift made by Golisano. John Foxe, the Killian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt Chair in Neuroscience and director of the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, will direct the new institute.

Flags will be lowered for Kenneth Takigawa

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Thursday, June 27, for Kenneth Takigawa, a laboratory technician IV (S) at the Center for Advanced Research Technology, who died on May 22. Takigawa joined the University staff in 2022.

Reminder: Juneteenth early payroll deadlines

To ensure the timely processing and mailing of payroll checks as the University observes the Juneteenth holiday on June 19, all time must be entered and approved by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 17. All employees must comply with this deadline to ensure employees are paid properly.

Tips for employees entering time:

  • Ensure your time is entered daily.
  • Remind your timekeeper to approve your time weekly.

Tips for timekeepers:

  • Each morning, approve the time recorded by employees for the previous day.
  • On Monday, June 10, ensure all time entered for employees for the previous week has been approved.
  • During the week of June 10, continue to approve your employees’ time daily.
