Golisano Children’s Hospital opens new pediatric mental health urgent care center
Opening for patients on July 15, Golisano Children’s Hospital’s new Brighter Days Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Care Center is upstate New York’s first-ever walk-in mental health clinic for young people up to the age of 18, who can show up with no prior appointment to get care. The center will serve walk-in patients from noon to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Information session on Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health
Want to know more about the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, the newest federal agency that has received $4 billion in funding over the last 3 years for high-risk, high-reward biomedical and health research? The Office of the Vice President for Research and Office of Government and Community Relations invites faculty and staff to an information session and Q&A that will include an update on current agency priorities, program offerings, application best practices, and key lessons learned from funded and rejected proposals. The session takes place Wednesday, July 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Class of ’62 Auditorium (G-9425) in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. A Zoom option is available for those unable to attend in person. Following the session, open office hours will be available for PIs to meet one-on-one with Srinu Sonti, the presenter, to discuss project ideas and ask specific questions. Registration is required by July 15 for the informational session and open office hours.

WUN Research Development Fund 2024
The World Universities Network (WUN) Research Development Fund 2024 is now open. The annual competitive fund aims to bring together researchers to undertake innovative, high-quality, sustainable research that addresses global challenges. Each member institution is permitted to lead two proposals per year but can collaborate on as many as desired. If you are interested in leading a proposal effort or would like more information, contact Megan Bennett-Spears. Review the guidelines and find more information on the Global Engagement website. Internal applications are due Monday, August 5. Early career researchers are highly encouraged to apply.
Save the date for the ‘Boundless Together’ conference
Join the Office of Equity and Inclusion on October 15 for the “Boundless Together” annual conference on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. This daylong conference, to be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, explores the question “How Do We Move Forward When We Disagree?” Be inspired by local and national experts in free speech, civil discourse, restorative practices, and other DEI topics. All are welcome to attend, including University students, staff, faculty, trainees, and members of the Greater Rochester community.
Meal order program through Nutrition in Medicine Research
The University’s Nutrition in Medicine Research program offers family-style meals for anyone in the community to order. Orders are accepted Thursday through Sunday for meal pickup on Wednesday at the Nutrition in Medicine kitchen at 1205 Bay Road in Webster, across the street from the Empire Boulevard Wegmans. The service offers whole-food plant-based menu items that have been well-liked and popular across experiences with research participants and patients, showing numerous health benefits for a variety of conditions. All proceeds support the program’s ongoing research.
